The Beach Pad is hosted by me, Debi ‘Daisy’ Arnold, ITEC qualified (Anatomy & Physiology/Healthcare/Massage) with HND Level 4 instructor qualifications (Obesity and Weight Management/Human Nutrition/Personal Training/Advanced Pilates for Common Orthopaedic Conditions)
I’ve enjoyed a career spanning over 30 years in health related fitness roles from gym instructor to personal trainer, studio owner at The Beach Pad since 2010 and now an online private weight loss coach, registered health coach and personal trainer since 2018.
For the record – I’m not your typical weight loss or health coach & personal trainer! I work at capacity, almost all of the time, probably because I don’t operate a military style approach! I believe in relevance, a personal programme tailored to your world and your life, and I won’t make you conform to unrealistic expectations. My job is to make you a better, fitter, happier, healthier version of you. I listen to your goals, observe the red flags in your health review and then we get cracking with a plan that day by day, step by step, gets you where you want to be, for life.
I LOVE food and generally HATE exercise! And so do most of my clients.
I’m all about progress, direction of travel, sustainability for life and ENJOYING IT – YOUR goals are paramount, as are results. Proper PERSONAL TRAINING.
My own reality of aches and pains driven by a childhood disease in my spine, a neck fracture from a horse riding accident, extraordinarily low blood pressure and a propensity to be very ‘curvy’ has lead to a lifetime of daily challenges in which both real food and relevant exercise play a major role in ensuring I look and feel as best as I can.
I have developed some amazing fat-loss, and fitness programmes which I am totally proud of – they are life changing, and probably different to anything you have tried elsewhere and personalised to YOU and YOUR goals.
30 years ago as a personal trainer in Hampstead North London, I’d have famous actresses, musicians, international businessmen sign up, to ‘tone up’.
Fast forward to 2010 when I launched The Beach Pad down on the South Coast, and fairly quickly I was presented with ‘obesity’ for the first time in my health and fitness career.
NB the official definition of ‘obesity’ is being 10% or more of your appropriate body weight. So yes. I’ve been obese too.
Faced with a new population of seriously malnourished, very unwell and increasingly immobile clients I realised I had to change too.
I re-sat all my exams, taking more than I needed to, necessary to help manage the needs of today’s society. Then I threw the qualifications and certificates away as I met with 30-40 clients per week, it was clear the answers were not in a text book.
I rapidly appreciated the services of a personal trainer were seriously deficient, a trend observed by most of the Western World such as America, Australia and New Zealand as Health Coaching started to step in, where Personal Training was failing.
So fast forward again to today and we now have Health Coaching.

1980’s Aerobic and Body Conditioning Instructor, 1990’s Pilates Instructor 2000’s Personal Trainer, 2010’s Obesity Specialist, and now a 2020’s Health Coach.
